Note: This position is not open to candidates who have had LASIK or any other type of corrective refractive eye surgery. On the day of the CBAT, you must present an original vision certificate from an eye expert in the format found in Annexure VI or Annexure VI-A; otherwise, you will not be permitted to take the test.
Post Selection Process
A single-stage computer-based test is used for selection, which is followed by a computer-based aptitude test, document verification, and medical examination.
1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
The CBT carries 100 questions of 1 mark each and runs for 120 minutes. One-third of a mark is deducted for every wrong answer, so intelligent guessing hurts more than it helps in this exam. When the CBT is held in more than one shift, marks are normalized before the merit is drawn.
In addition to data analysis and interpretation from tables, charts, and graphs, Analytical and Mathematical Capability covers arithmetic themes such as number systems, ratio and proportion, averages, percentages, time and effort, algebra, and fundamental geometry. Logical capability includes reading comprehension passages that are limited to English and covers logical reasoning themes like syllogisms, blood relations, clocks, calendars, and riddles. Analogy, series completion, coding-decoding, and ranking and arrangement issues are all covered by mental reasoning.
In the CBT, the minimum qualifying scores are 25% for ST, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, and 40% for UR and EWS. According to their local community, ex-servicemen are eligible.
2. The Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
Based on the normalized CBT score, candidates from each community who are equal to eight times the number of openings are shortlisted RRB-wise for the CBAT. The CBAT has no negative marking and is only available in Hindi and English.
To be eligible, you must receive a minimum T-score of 42 on each test battery. The CBAT is the actual filter in this recruitment process because this criterion is applicable to all candidates, regardless of community, and the T-score cannot be relaxed.
3. Verification of Documents and Medical Examination
Only applicants who pass the CBAT are included in the merit list, which has a 70% weighting for CBT scores and a 30% weighting for CBAT scores. Following the Railway Administration's medical examination, candidates equivalent to the number of openings are invited for Document Verification RRB-wise. The older applicant is ranked higher on the merit list when two candidates receive identical scores.
